Just a little thing of interest to me at least you might know already:wink:
I have been talking here about my Renault 4 to the odd frenchman and its ok when its there in front of them but I could nt understand why they looked blank when it was nt in eyeshot until one of my good friends said AHHHH!!! the "quatrelle" pronounced "catrelle" now everyone knows what I am babbling on about.
Thats what they all know it as.:roll:

I guess it is due to the Renault 4 being more commonly know as the 4L I think the "L" is the most common model over here The 4L trophy for one is a prime example You see all types in that including vans and savanne`s etc
I have 5 now but most of mine are TL`s

Have you noticed in rural france "4" drivers often wave to each other I thought the gendarme was around first time it happened to me
What dept are you in I am in 22 near Dinan

AHH! I never thought of that good point
I am afraid they would be forever waving here if they waved for that reason as it is so popular ici I live in the very rural lakes area of the limousin area 87 Haute vienne. I know of at least a dozen in the small towns around me.
New cars are nt really highly thought of here, apart from the parisiens who are nt very well thought of, with their weekend retreats or the brits in the area most drive 40 yr old tractors or 20yr old cars.
