Hi Mark, if you are importing one from France you will need to pay duty on it and re-register it on English plates. To do this you will need to have it mot'd which I'm sure you would want to do anyway! It's not an expensive process . The duty will be based on the value of the car so make sure it looks as old and as tatty as possible! In a nutshell you will pay the duty, the cost of the mot (£45) the fee to the DVLA (I think about £40) the cost of the new plates (£20) and road tax (£60/6 mths)
