I've got the engine on a workbench & am trying to seperate the gearbox. Four large bolts removed.....and no movement. Any advice? Is it a job for a sturdy hammer and strong nerves?

Removing gearbox

Are you trying to remove the gearbox off the clutch housing while the clutch housing is still attached to the crankcase? It won't come off without the clutch housing free, as there are a few more bolts that run at the lower section of the gearbox, that are only accessible once you have separated clutch housing from crankcase.

True enough. Method for removing the gearbox is first remove the pulley on the end of the camshaft (the one that stops the gearbox from coming off) then remove about 10 bolts that connect the aluminium bellhousing to the engine.
