Well, I had a situation the other day, I have 4 valve spring compressors, none of which had enough reach to compress the valves in my R4 cylinder head.
So I made one that fitted into my pillar drill. It took me 15 mins including stopping to take pictures, just in case it was good ;-)
See the pictures for what I did and how well it worked, just using a small piece of scrap tubeing, even I was impressed!!!
The only thing I haven't shown, is a spacer I found (thick washer) to go under the valve to hold it still while I compressed each spring.
I can't attach enough pictures to show everything, but hopefully you'll understand the process? Any questions, I'll help if I can.

Worked amazingly well and I could lock it down with the drill mechanism, which I hadn't accounted for!

Vau! Very cleaver and easy to do it on your own.
