Instrument panel lights

I noticed that Clementine said (in this post) that the dipped beam headlamp light on the instrument panel (R4) is normally disabled. Why is this? Is there a bulb there, but not connected? Has anyone had any luck in wiring this back up? Is it a requirement for MOT?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

The light should be wired up so to get it working you just need to fit a bulb and bulb holder. It's not an MOT requirement.

I found it a little annoying driving at night with the little green light lit up (I guess that's why they left the bulb out in the first place).

Looking at the flexible PCB, it appears that the dipped beam headlamp indicator bulb is not wired up.
