I would like to know if anyone out there has asked for an agreed valuation only to find that the insurance [after taking your premium] then chose to devalue your car, as this has happened to me twice this year and as there was an article in the classic car weekly of someone with the same problem and would like everyone to be aware of this

The one I deal with for the MG has been fine. I'm fairly sure it's Footman James. They do a self certification agreed value where you fill in a form and send photos. They've always agreed with my valuation, but I don't go over the top.

Though I guess MG prices are fairly well established. Valuing a Renault 4 is more tricky from actual sales as they don't change hands very often. Probably the most official price guide for the R4 is on this site (I've been monitoring sale prices for years). Though Classic insurers don't seem cheap for R4s so I have a modern car policy for mine.

Have these insurers been changing the agreed values after agreeing them? Of have they just not agreed them in the first place.
