Hi, my dad is looking for somewhere to take his Renault 4 seats for reupholstering but he is not sure where to start.
Can anyone recommend anywhere in the UK?
We are based in the midlands but happy to take the seats elsewhere for good quality and pricing.
Thank you
Kat

Hello Kat

Don’t do that you will find a coach trimmer will want far in excess of £1000 to reupholster. Look on eBay here:

Folding front seat + rear for renault 4l before 1980 skai beige https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/381012248548

These are the actual tight upholstered covers that replace the existing.- far far cheaper and beautifully made. Other colours on request mine are perfect and I’m delighted with them - see my blog ‘What I am doing’ on here

Matt's Soft Tops wouldn't charge anything like that. He specialises in Citroëns but has done other classics. He's done the seats in my Dyane and my AK350 (plus I have one of his roofs on my 2cv) and I've seen his work on Amis, 2CVs, a DS, Fiat 500 and others. The trouble is, he's a long way from you, in Chichester.

Hello Kat. If your dad wants to go for originality it might be worth checking out de Franzose, they are a German company who specialises in parts for classic French cars, and they do a nice line in replacement seat covers. They also do door cards, and all the necessary clips and such like used on car seats. My 85 GTL has a set fitted, and they look the business. They are less than €350 a set.
Regards Brian

Hi Cornish 4

The eBay contact is where Der Franzose buy from. If you go direct you get choices of colours - mine was a special and a special format too. ( I have GTL seats but had them sewn with flutes to look like the earlier versions)

I had my set done for £500ish, plus door cards.
I wanted a bit diff to oem thou but they look oem.

But the feel better quailty then oem.

The guy who did them is based in Poole, Dorset.
