May soon be the owner of a 4tl

The first car that I ever drove was a 1966 4TL. We had two of them on the farm where I worked and they were used as general run arounds on the farm tracks. That was 51 years ago and now I may have the oportunity to buy a restoration project. I don't know anything about the 4TL scene, spares availability etc so I look forward to doing some research. I would be interested in updating the car with a more modern engine and disc brakes. Any advice on what is possible would be welcome.

The Renault 4 GTL has an 1108cc engine and disc brakes which could save a little effort. The disc brakes came in around 1981 ish.

Parts are generally available. A fair bit of stuff is available on eBay but a lot of the more fiddly stuff needs to come from France or Germany.
