My R4 motor age?

Hi !

Body/Car is from 1977 but motor number is 800/701...and according to german R4 book 800-series motors are from 1983 or younger?

is that the case?

No, it's correct for 1977. This is the "old" head with the separate copper pushrod guides, later ones are integral with the head casting.

The colour of the block looks greyish, did you paint it or just found it as such?

Does your car still has the body colour code (right hand inner wing, behind the headlamp)? Is this 913 / Vert Laitue?
