Hello
i have just registered for this site and have allways liked the renault 4.

On saturday i bought a renault 4 from a guy near paris it was his fathers car but his father died in july.the car had only 2 owners from new the original purchaser in 1984 and the guy that died. The body work is imaculate so is the chassie, it came with a stack of receipts dating back 20 years every euro spent has been loged. No expense has been spared on the car and it had been garaged over the 20 years.

He wanted 2300 euro for the car but i manged to knock him down to 1700 euro.

The interior is in good nick but i have decided to have made to measure covers made and the door panels recovered in all in a red vinyl. Could any one recomend any one for the seat covers.

Welcome. Do post some photos of the car.

For seats there aren't really any R4 seat specialists around that I'm aware of, but I did spot a 1967 car at last years Renault 4 run with new front seats that were perfectly matched to the old ones. I can probably get some details of the trimmer.

Renospeed (the R4 restorer in London) had some seats made up in red for one of his projects and they looked good. I'm sure he'll be happy to send details of that trimmer is you get in touch with him.

hello edwardhall

I am the owner of the '67 R4 mentioned by Malcolm. I've now had both front seats retrimmed and have no hesitation in recommending the upholsterer to you. He trades as Eastbourne Upholstery Service and his phone number is 01323 727142.

If you'd like to see the work he's done on my car before committing yourself, you're very welcome to call in (I live just east of Brighton).

Has anybody succeeded making the seats in R4s more supportive for the lower back?

Without using cushions?
