? Earlier R4 suitability

Hi , sounds interesteing, how and where has this chassis been stored since manufacture? and what would be the problems of using it for an earlier model? 1970 ,845cc front dash handbrake, differnt gearbox etc. I have always been struck how similar the chassis remained throughout the manufacturing years but some specific knowledge would be helpful.

Richard, the chassis was the the last one that Renault UK had. It was sitting in their stores for years. It has been kept in a dry garage but would benefit from being repainted before using it. Clementine will be able to advise if it's suitable for an early car as he has both types of chassis in his emporium so may be able to compare.

I think they are fairly interchangeable with early 4 speed chassis. There's a spacer that would need to be removed from under the boot floor on the early cars.

I'm not sure about the front torsion bar and gearbox mount mountings, but GTL front suspension would fix any probs with torsion bars, and a little welding would fix the gearbox mount if that is different on the dogleg box (mine is very inaccessible at the moment so can't easily check).
