I have just joined wishing that I had seen this site a long time ago. I have always dreamed of owning a Renault 4 since early 80's but chose a VW Beetle as my first car with my brother. So 30 years have passed and other cars but I still yearn for a Renault 4, sad I know but I can't resist their shape, their boxy curves, and that magical gear shift! I am trying to convince my son to share one with his mum and I know that he has been looking out for sales:D Hopefully we will be seeing one tomorrow but hearing that there is someone else viewing the car ..... but fingers crossed.

So hopefully I will be posting pictures of a new purchase soon!!

Any obvious tips when viewing??

Thanks Nin

Hi Nin
joining this website was a good decision because you'll get advice from some very knowledgeable R4 owners.
It's a great car to drive and work on and I'm sure your son will share your passion too.
Good luck with the viewing. Chassis rust seems to be quite a problem so make sure that the underneath has been treated properly.

Hello Nin,

welcome to the forum and good luck in becoming a new preserver of a Renault 4!

For advice, check out this page: http://www.renault4.co.uk/buyers-guide.htm - as mojobaby says, a rusty chassis can be problematic. Take a torch with you and have a good look underneath!

Welcome to the forum, Good luck in your search for your Renault 4.

Thanks for the warm welcome

Sadly, she was snapped up on Saturday morning :( ... well its not meant to be and there is one waiting for us somewhere?????

Thanks for the tips, I will have my torch at the ready and my son's keen eye. Noticed the blue one from Scotland but I think a bit toppy for us. Next time I see one, I wont be waiting until the weekend to view!!!!!

I am more excited about getting one than I was when I got my first car!!! I am mainly looking on this site for sale and cars and classic..are there any other places i should be looking??

Cheers again all:hug:

Nin

Thanks for that, my son was just as disappointed as me that it was sold. He has already spotted the technical help part on the forum and is getting a bit fidgety that he might have to buy some more new tools!!!
........I thought this would post to my first reply.... still getting the hang of this posting thing!!;)

Hi Nin,

Like all of you I am quite attached to my Renault 4. It's orange, original paint with low odometer reading of 85000 since it was garaged 14 years after the owner's death. Anyway, I need to see my mom in America and selling the Renault is the ticket to the tickets. I had the bottom of my chassis welded last winter. It's registered, insured and being driven here in Dalmatia. Would you like me to send you a photo?

Hi, Sorry to hear you are having to part with your R4. I have found mine now and she is very beautiful. Have you placed it on for sale part of forum??

Good luck with your travels :)
