Parts interchangeability

Whew thats a long word title. Newbie here, so new it hasn't arrived yet, but I was wondering if any of the brake parts from the Renault 5 will fit the 4. Although I am in France, ebay here isn't quite as forthcoming with pattern parts as the Uk version especially for the Renault 4, IE none at all and postage from the UK is a little prohibitive for discs pads and shoes. I know the engine from the 5 will fit the 4 but am not in a position to trawl through the part books of a friendly motor factors here, in fact there don't seem to be any.Any info greatfully received.

If you are talking about a GTL, then yes, the braking system is the same as the Mk1 R5, but bear in mind that on both cars there were two makes of brake systems, Bendix and Girling and most parts aren't interchangeable from one make to the other.

Have a look at the the site mentioned in the last post in Where to look for parts

I've not used them myself yet but they seem stock a good range of parts for R4s
