I want to pull the engine of my R4GTL but I don't have an engine hoist nor some kind of a strong tree branch or anything to pull out the engine. What Is a usual way to remove the engine, Or how can I? And also, I dont have a car elevator

Hi

An engine hoist is the best method. I hire one for the weekend which works out cheaper than during the week. However, if you remove the bonnet, drop all the suspension, unbolt the gearbox and remove it, unbolt everything which would prevent the engine from lifting away from the engine bay including the engine mounts, lower the car to the lowest notch on your axle stands, place a block of wood between the underside of the engine and trolley jack, jack up the engine until the engine mount studs have clearance, then pull the engine towards the front crossmember using the jack and then rest it on the crossmember. You can then lift the engine out. This is a two person job and a bit precarious as the engine could quite easily topple over (health and safety) and not for those with back problems or who do not want to risk having back problems or crushing their feet. I have done this before in my youth but would rather pay for the hire of a hoist these days and avoid risk of injury.

Two men is sufficient to lift engine and gearbox out
Or build a double A-frame with topbeam from some old wood beams, some rope and some pulleys as I did when my youngest son hoist the engine out back in 2017 when he was 16, a one man job.
