R4 specialist / good garage...?

Hi

I have just bought a 4 and am looking for someone / a garage who knows these cars well to give the car a thorough going over, a service, and sort a misfire and failing bonnet catch.

I just spoke with Derek of RenoSpeed and understand he is now a long way South West, and have just also established that another expert, John Bennett, retired and sold Renaultspeed several years ago...

I'm based in Cambridge but not expecting to necessarily find a very local solution (and the car is in Wiltshire currently).

Might anyone here have some suggestions?

I'm not sure how far you're prepared to follow, although thinking about it, my recommendation is equi-distant from Cambridge and Wiltshire!
Reeds Garage, of St. Albans Road, Barnet are an excellent "classic friendly" garage, who've sorted my Daf 33, Wartburg, Lada Citroën Xantia and several other classic belonging to local enthusiasts. PM me and I'll supply details.

If it helps, I'm a retired V.W. mechanic, who still keeps his hand in, servicing the family's and friends' cars. I'm confident I could sort out the misfire myself!

Just seen your message but D&D Motors could be a solution? They're based in Andover so relatively ideal distance-wise from Wiltshire. I've used them once before for checking over my R4 and the owner, Kevan is very knowledgeable. Maybe worth giving a call?

What about Renault Reborn run by Simon Pocklington in Louth, Lincolnshire? He specialises in restoring and servicing Renaults especially the 4 and he did mine (before I bought it). I've spoken to him on the phone, he's a nice chap.
