Trying to work out how to take apart the rear suspension arm from the mounting brackets on my 1986 4gtl, got them off the car but both brackets very corroded, not sure how the arm is attached to them?

There are rubber bushes between the arm and both inner and outer mountings that are pressed in the arm and the mounting.
The only way to remove them is by melting the rubber by burning it, then cut or press out the steel sleeves. You shoud then fit new bushes and fit the brackets in the arms at the correct position, otherwise you will not be able to fit the arm on the car.
It has been discussed here earlier, definitely not a job for an unexperienced DIY owner.

Definitly a massive job for an unexperienced DIY'r but not notdoable as long as you read and understand several mechanical tutorials and most important measuring and keeping dimensions!!
Remember that every experienced DIY'r or mechanic started as an unexperienced DIY'r/mechanic.

This is a good site with loads of tutorials https://www.la4ldesylvie.fr/tutoriels-de-mecanique-et-bricolage-sur-les-renault-4
And here are some tutorials adressing the rear suspension;

There are also some good examples to find in the Projects section of this forum https://www.renault4.co.uk/forum/threads/r4-gtl-1985-restoration.8252/post-57886
