renault 4 rear suspension

While discussing rotting rear suspension mounts a French member told me that he thought the French made R4,s rarely suffered from this problem as he has 14 of these cars and only one has the rear suspension problem.He put this down to different production processes for the French market cars,
any comments?

dont think they use salt on french roads?
plus i am told at least the south of france is always sunny !!
