Road trip to Dubrovnik, Croatia

Last weekend was Renault Croatia club meeting in Dubrovnik. second part. First part was in May but some of "actors" could not be there in May so they asked all of us if we would repeat it.
As you can imagine it did not take much to persuade us for another gathering

So On Saturday i jumped into R4 and weekend can start.

Little bit late start so decided to go on highway instead local roads.

Even some takeovers were done..

Neretva river delta All kind of fruits and vegetables are growing here....but view is amazing


Just in front of Dubrovnik


I was surprised with time that it took me to drive from Vodice to Dubrovnik.
Start was at 9:30 and at 13:00 i was in Dubrovnik. little bit less than 300km.
Could not do it faster in modern car.


Actors who asked for repeating meeting were preparing all the food for all of us.
I arrived just in time for lunch

After good meal we had some time for discussion about our "pets"




But soon we hit the road again as we wanted to reach mountain SRĐ above city Dubrovnik before sun goes down

Our friend from Sarajevo, Bosnia And Hercegovina arrived little bit before start.
He was dreaming of R4 cabrio for more than 20 years and last year finally managed to fulfill himself desire.





Road to Srđ is steep and little bit challenge for ours R4


But we managed to get there




And enjoyed in view to city of Dubrovnik, old and new town

After sightseeing we get back to starting point for some more eat and drink and talk about everything.
Night was hard and long (that is all i can say )

Morning started with heavy rain so we decided to go home.

On my way home sun was again on the sky and drive was really enjoyable (driving local roads this time)

First stop for little rest at Baćinska jezera, near town Ploče


Second stop somewhere between Makarska and Omiš (closer to Omiš)


And facing south to Dubrovnik

I love it and can wait to do some more road trips.

A nice part of the world. My wife and I spent a week there a few years ago and quite a few of the houses were fire damaged as a result of the war. It was astonishing to hear that the beautiful old city was deliberately shelled by way of revenge. We'll go back one day.

What a great outing Petak; and what fantastic countryside. I often poodle around the empty roads here in Portugal; where there are plenty of R4's still on the road; (mainly elderly, slow moving old buffers racking up the MPG).
Got the wood in (free) this morning - from around the river here - that had fallen during the winter, so ready for the 1st fire in the wood burner. The last few days of the sun are petering out here in dear old Portugal - where i moved a few years ago. Thank goodness!
