My R4 GTL rubber mats are original and in fair condition but have a few splits around the locating holes which will only get worse. What have other people done to reinforce them and how successful was it . I was thinking of using a hollow punch on some old rubber car mats and gluing a 2" square patch to the underside of the original mats.

Thought I would ask as i have no doubt others will have done this and may have a better solution.

Thanks

Hi ecurb How about using the same kind of eyelets used to reinforce tarps? You get them in various sizes. The splits could be a problem but if no parts are actually missing it could go.Best of course would be to reinforce holes whilst still not split. Eyelets are made up of two parts one goes on underside the other on upside then you punch them together using a tool (dovel?)that "bonds" the two using a hammer..-Reid.
