Unknown lever on console

On a 1991 GTL, there seems to be a plastic lever diretcly above the temperature control. Anybody what this is for? It wasn't on my old '89 GTL.

To direct air toward your feet or toward the windscreen. It should be there in the 1989 GTL too.

...and right above that lever, there is a knob (similiar to the hood release). What's this one for?

It is used to operate ventilation flap below the windscreen. If you pull it toward yourself it will let the fresh air in. If you push it away the ventilation system will use the air from inside the car. Well that is the teory
