What a wire is hanging there under the alternator?

Hi, I discovered a free wire there under the alternator. I didn´t find any suitable pin for it, so I left it to hang. There are all functions OK. Have you any idea, what a wire is it?

I kept meaning to have a look at mine. Finally managed it. Looks like an earth wire. On my car it connects to the thermal switch on the radiator that controls the cooling fan.

I have a very similar wire unconnected on my R4 (Look ate the blue box). My car also runs fine and all electric devices are all working ok...

Thank you for you suggestion Seujimmy, I will investigate it... it is annoying to have a wire unplugged there and not know what is its function...

Pavel, this is a transistorized ignition device. Still the ignition trigger are the points (just a few miliAmps) but the power (Several Amps) is driven by the black box to the ignition coil, instead through the points. I installed it moths ago and it works fine! :) . If the black box fails (I hope this is not going to happen, I can reverts easily to normal points... look at the fastom connectors).

Did you buy it somewhere or did you assembled it self? Brings it s a relevant advancement?

Hi Pavel.

I assembled it myself. I fell the car running better... The engine starts, even now in winter very easy. Anyway after installing the new ignition box I changed the points and the vacuum advance unit. Them I adjusted the timing with a timing light and also verified the timing advance curve.

This R4 has de 1100 cc engine and runs up to 135-140 kmh (GPS read) on its speedometer we are talking about near 150 kph.

The main advantage is supposed to be durability and stability of the timing. If the condenser fails the points wear very fast... so now there is no need of the condenser (but the black box can fail too).

Is it expansive or complicated to assembly?
