What’s this pipe?

I have a very slight coolant loss. In the course of investigating it, I noticed this pipe which sits at the rear of the engine, against the bulkhead and goes straight down. But what is it?

I’m guessing it connects to the heater? Anyway, in 18 years of owning my F6, I’ve never noticed it. So what’s it for?

It's a drain for the heater box in case water gets in from the flap below the windscreen.
