Zenith 281F Carburettor Fuel Leak

Hi All

I was wondering if anyone on the forum could advise me as to what might be the cause of a small fuel leak on a Zenith 281F carburettor. The leak is localised to the top casing of the carburettor within the confines of the 'bell' shaped component sector. I am assuming it is passing up from the float chamber via the gauze underneath the 'bell' shaped component. What would cause this? The carburettor is otherwise working well. Any pearls of wisdom would be gratefully received. Please see image attached of the problem area.

The "bell"component is nothing more than an overflow annex ambient air inlet.
The most likely cause is that the needle valve (7) does not shut off the fuel supply (6) or the float (8) is leaking.
