can a 6Volter make it through the winter?

i've a '67 850 with 6V electrics, am i expecting too much for it to start on all but the really coldest winter mornings?? i think i'll end up converting to 12V, but how can i ensure easy winter starting? apart from the usual tune up and good connections to the starter??

No problem,i have two and very rarely use the starting handle.make sure the earth is good.
