Exhaust Silencer

Hi All


I was wondering if other members have had this experience as quite a few of you have gtl/f6 (956cc/1108cc) engines in your tls/f4s.

I have an 1108cc engine in my F4. I have kept the 850cc exhaust system in place as it was in good condition. It is the system with the silencer under the wing. Every 3-4 years the baffle in the silencer starts to rattle. I change the silencer and it is fine for another few years. The silencers I have fitted are after market ones. Is it the quality of the silencers which is at fault? Or is it that the silencer from the 850cc cannot cope with the larger engine?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

The rattling is just poor quality aftermarket parts. I've had the same with the proper 1108cc silencers. Assuming you have no access to a welder for a strategically placed plug weld a dent made with a hammer where the baffle is will likely sort it. Or a dent close to the baffle to tighten up the external skin. It'll be the baffle rattling against the external skin of the silencer.
