Hi I recently bought an imported F4 that was imported from France a few years ago to use for the 4L Trophy in February. I've been struggling to get an insurance quote as the F4 isn't in anyone's systems. If anyone has owned and insured an F4 in the UK do you have any possible leads?

I run a lhd F4. I'm insured with Adrian Flux (classic car specialists). No problems with recognising the model. I pay approx £150 per year, fully comprehensive with 6k limited mileage.

Ah they're the only ones who've given me a quote so far. Of £1944.82 a year...

Very helpful (not sure about F4 mine is a GTL) but I am ancient with a accident 4 year ago and they only want to know 3 years history
And a bonus they answer the phone and it was under £200

Hold on, was the car originally imported to go on the 4L Trophy, or are you intending to take it on the 4L Trophy yourself? If the latter I’m kind of not surprised, insurance companies are wary of that stuff and reckon you can afford it. I imagine it’s different in France because going in the trophy is a well known rite of passage there.

Hi it was imported by someone a few years ago by a guy who just used it as a van, I bought it earlier this year to take on the Trophy next year.

Just my 2 euro cents but when i needed to insure my 4 (1983 GTL) back in spring, it was problematic as she was classed as exported as she'd been taken to Jersey.
After an extremely laborious evening and day online, and on phone, only Adrian Flux could offer me cover.
I pay £24 per month atm but my options are open and I'm sure will reduce financially next year as she's uk registered now.
I wish Peter James had been available as an option tho, even if it had been another sorry but no, maybe next year!
