Hi gang-and welcome to 2018...
-I'm in need of some parts (or donor engine) from a Brasilian made Ford Escort
1,6L -84/85model (which as we know was based on the Renault 12)
These were widely imported by FoMoCo to various Euro-countries..

The parts I need is the Crank-shaft and piston-rods... Any offers? Tips/Tidbits/
leads or just rumours of whereabouts of said engine/parts Greatly appreciated!

-Reid.

Thanx for the tips harbourseal. Mine is the same engineblock as the Alpine so Cleon Fonte yes..
(I have located a Ford CHT motor, just needs to Confirm its the right one for me,but I'm still
interested in tips/advice etc -Reid

collecting Lx-motor tomorrow,am exited to see how involving it is to change over crancshaft, shorter piston-rods
and machining piston-tops,will enlarge exh.valves at same time, plus ordering a new 82/83 degree camshaft which
needs to be manufactured or mod. for driving belt) again-tips & hints welcomed re this -Reid.

I had a fOrd escorts turn up one day with Renault push rod engine
Pretty sure they dI'd version to run on alcohol.too
Try searching ford del ray which was inline version not transverse
Is this engine your latest r4 power device

Hi there Paul- You're right, they had ethanol version too which was actually problematic when these meant for 20/25 percent eth
was exportet to some European countries wher we only had leaded fuel..Whilst rust was the real culprit the motors also got a bad
reputation due to non-compatibility to "pure" fuel.
-I've had some estimates on rebuilding the 840 engine, but just too pricey as I would have had to locate and buy all outide "salad"
in addition.Soon as it comes to Alpine (and Gorde too) prices seem to go bananas.

This the reason I look into this option-and also it would be nice to have a 1600cc (actually 1555cc) with other cam etc.it'll be in the
85/90hk area with good torque too plus it wouldn't Pop out so much at Mot. -Reid

Ok, so motor now in my garage.Poured some oil into plugholes and it now turns over nicely.
The code on it is 84AU-L and it's a CHT motor
-Got a lead on yet another option so am busy looking into that one as well -Reid.

Don't forget the water pump will be at the wrong end you will have to get a suitable camshaft two fit the engine block and also hope that most of it is directly swap over the water pump will need mounting at the other end of the head and the head modifying to suit good luck on it all swapping over could you not have just got hold of the Dacia crankshaft and conrods etc that people have been using to take the 1400 engines to 1600cc I don't know the whole story on this but you should be able to research

Hi Paul!
"water pump wrong end etc etc "-If you mean in that Ford-motor-I will just be using the cranckshaft and shorter piston-rods in my 810 G 7-26
or possibly in my C2JP 7/13 motor.
I've got a positive response about the camshaft-hopefully that'll be ok.

-must confess I don't know much about the Dacia cranck and conrods, other than I've heard they were of questionable quality (???) might just
be bull of course. maybe some of our friends from over there could have some valid input......
Thanx again for the tip Paul!

PS: I also now have a 840 R5Alpine motor on hand, but am unsure exactly how much would be needed to have it working in Roffen the F4
wiring-loom/other mountings/Renix w.flywheel pick-up. Does it clear the bulkhead/firewall etc etc.I'm just an enthusiast with a garage and a
Really big hammer you know! -Reid.
