hi, sold a R4 to a lady in Colchester who requires mechanical help with brakes and other bits and pieces, is there anyone who can assist falrly locally? I haven't asked her approval to put this appeal out, so nothing may come of it. I'm just wondering at this stage. I think that someone who can be paid to help would probably be better, thanks. JJ

Now the words 'guilty conscience' never crossed my mind once. Twice maybe....

What specifically are the problems with the brakes, do you know? I'm a tad too far to offer to take a drive up there. Even more importantly, these 'problems' have a habit of taking some time to solve, such is the age and subsequent corrosion of our cars. When I replaced by front discs recently, I decided to clean and paint the calipers, then the awful caliper paint I used took a couple of days to really dry, and then bleed nipples seize up, and then the correct size of bleed nipples are needed. So a day trip might turn into two, three of four day trips. Just curious. If it was simple I might make an offer to visit.

I don't really know what's involved, but the car was in top knotch when I sold it.
I was really thinking more of someone who still worked on R4's locally, that she could take the car to for servicing, but really it's nothing to do with me now. Thanks for your interest.

JJ

Maybe Derek at reno speed in Kent/ London is closer than me in Worthing west Sussex
Happy to help if needed

I'm in Barnet, which is only the M25/A12 away. I do mechanical repairs and am happy to assist if no-one else is nearer.

I know a mechanic in Ipswich that specialises in Citroeon 2CV's, but he also sorts my R4 out for MOT's. I would thoroughly recommend him, and he is very local to her. You can PM me if she would like his address and phone number.
