...holiday in France ...

Hello everyone

In the Autumn I am 'thinking' of changing the motor, gearbox, some running gear, shocks and a few other things from my French R4 to my English R4 and putting the old engine, gearbox etc back into the French R4 so my children can continue racing it around our fields!!..

Would anyone who is a COMPITENT mechanic like to have a weeks holiday at my holiday house in France (www.moulinbodin.net) in exchange for carrying out the work for me. The house is big enough for family of 4 or two lots of adults and is situated on the West Coast of France half way between Nantes and La Rochelle and half an hour inland from the beautiful Atlantic Beaches. It is part of a lovely secluded old water mill, and has its own nice private river with boats and fishing for anyone that way inclined. I have also planted over 300 varieties of trees from around the world for anyone interested in trees and anyone interested will be able at that time eat and take home as many pumpkins as they want. You will also be able to cool off either in the river or for those frightened of being bitten by fresh water cray fish, a large pool. I dont want to 'over egg the cake' but the place is magical!!

...Professor Tim Krause...

..A very nice friend of mine Tim Krause, Emeritus Professor of English at The University of Life has just emailed me to say he certainly is a comp -'E'- tent mechanic but not at the required Advanced Motor Mechanics needed to tackle Renault 4 work but suggests that I buy an 'Engelsch Zakwoordenboek', which may well help with posting treads on this site in future.

Tim is from Milwaukee where there is a 'Renault 4' museum apparently. The first Renault 4 ever sold in America was bought by Conrad Fitzgerald in 1962, a direct descendent of Edmund Fitzgerald, whose family boat, named after him was immortalised in the lovely Gordon Lightfoot song 'The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald'

...and so its goodnight from me and goodnight from him...

That's a very tempting offer. I know a grumpy frog that needs a holiday.

The place looks excellent - you ought to make use of your signature on the forum to promote it a bit - it's in usercp> edit signature (or similar).

Hi

I think I am close to you [dept 17]...

If you need a extra pair of hands...

Nice place...

I think Clementine needs to be on site as well to ensure Frederick has all the right equipment, forceps, engine hoist et al., for this delicate transplant operation -a cool pair of paws is definately required for this sensitive procedure. You must'nt split up what must surely be the finest transplant team available.:)

..and when they have finished their work..

..They both go off to La Rochelle for a cafe au lait down on the front and check out the passing Norwegian crumpets or do I mean Danish pastries!!

As Clem said - ' With my age Fred and your experience, we are a great team -we are in fact too good looking for our own safety - lets get back to the real work and get that Renault 4 back on the road !!'

Yes, and I heard that you were so grateful for their help you said you would give them anything they fancied. So they had a look at this but, luckily for you, decided that nothing could compare with a Renault 4.

Me Also! Why not get a weekend together and we all come over and get it done in double quick time?

I'm on holiday from the 17th of August till the 30th If I remember correctly!

On another totally different note, I'm off to Belgium at the end of this month for a week to check on another engineer we have working for our company, I will be working with him for the week and then appraising him for our company, am slightly bricking it as he only speaks French and my Francais is very slight! This is going to be an interesting week me thinks! I'm really hoping it'll help me, as well as me being able to help him with his work!
