Hello all. on my 1979 850 tl. there does not appear to be a lamp fitted? there is a hole mounting in the dash board. but no lamp holder or wire.? ( i hace searched) was this an optional extra, ?
all best. nigel.

That is normal. If you put a bulb in the hole it works, but it is quite bright and distracitng. I guess the bulb was only put in for markets that required it.

Bear in mind that under section 2:14 of the tester's manual the main beam warning light is part of the test and needs to be working. That said, as most tests are carried out with bright lights all around I doubt most testers will bother!

Ah - the main beam! Yes, that is supposed to have a bulb and bulb holder. It's the dipped beam where the bulb and holder are normally missing.

I am always confused with terms "main" and "dipped" lights.

Main are "long" beam with blue indicator light
Dipped are "short" beam with green indicator light.

Am i correct? Did i finally get it?
