Noisy alternator

Continuing the theme of investigating the weird and wonderful noises Felicia makes...

Now that my exhaust is fixed, the next loudest noise is the whirring of the alternator. It's not a whine or a grinding sound, just a loud steady whir. I don't know if it's normal or not, so is there any way I can check its condition?

flip off the belt and try it for slack in the axel.Or-is it full of muck? On the front of the axle there is a "fan" I've seen alternators where the fan-blades is mounted in reverse so they suck insted of blow.It made a wonderful whistling noise sounding like an off version of Sound of Music.. Alternatively you might drill a hole in your new exhaust to mask the alternator noise... -R.

Hi Tom, I wouldn't worry too much, mine does the same, and I think that noise is quite normal for that type of alternator. These "interesting" noises are all part of the 4L experience.
