Piston Sleeve Tool

After much searching I have finally found the correct Renault tool that is used to hold the piston sleeves in place when working on the engine.

It's no good to me now as I have finished my engine, and I improvised, but maybe for the next time I'll try and copy this idea:)

This photo is taken on a GTL engine but I presume it can also be used on an 845cc TL engine. I'm pretty sure that the tool is no longer available.

The clamp tool I use is just big 'thick' washers between piston sleeves (fits over the 'V' shape) either side of the block, with a shorter bolt to accommodate. Always worked for me and you can get the pistons out of the liner and leave the liner's in place! Hope that helps someone get around the problem?

Hello SJC400, I did it exactly the same way as you describe., as you can see below. 845 engine.

The advantage of your method is that if you need to replace the rings, you can remove and replace the piston through the top of the engine quite safely.
With the Renault tool in place, that would be impossible of course.
But for any other work, its perfect!
