This is one of two Alpine A110 taking part in the Rallye des vins - held in the Maconnais wine region of Southern Burgundy - there is a section for 'Rallye Véhicules Historique de Compétition'. Amongst the many Porsche 911s there were also a R5 Turbo, a R5 Alpine and two Mk1 Ford escorts.

Mmm, nice picture of a beautiful car being driven in anger. It's good to see these classics being used instead of languishing in a museum or someones' private collection never to be seen by us enthusiasts.

One of the special stages started in our village. The Rallye des Vins web site (in French) is here. If you would like to view some of the official photos the 'frame' with this years photos is here.

We also have a hill climb on the other side of the hill from us (lots of nice hairpin bends) every May - again with quite a few classics.

Both these events take place on the public roads - they just close them for the duration.

Great photos Claude, that 5 Turbo is looking nice, as is the Opel GTE. It looks like a big event. There was one held resently down here in Cornwall, most of the classics there were Ford Escorts according to renault4mad who was a marshal. Oh and I think he said there was an MG Metro 6R4 as well in the mix, now there is a scarery piece of machinery.

Not my photos. The Rally is part of the French national rally championship - there were 146 competitors plus 28 classics.

Ah, I thought it was you that was wizzo with the camera. A great spectator sport that's free, and that's a rare thing these days isn't it.
Talking of spectator sport, have I mentioned on here that I'm going to the Le Mans Classic:smile: I know of atleast one other forum member that's going, anybody else? Before Marigolds' annual foray onto French soil though she's been invited to a wedding in South Devon, important job, carrying the bridesmaids, should be a great day. She will be in company with one of her friends from Brighton.:D

Yes but that lovely photo on the first post was C van R's. We were helping with the snack bar amongst the vines just above one of the hairpin bends coming out of the village.
