Hi,
Thought I would send you some pictures to put on the forums, purchased the van on 20/01/2012 with the intention of restoring it for our service van.
When I bought it I was told it belonged to a mechanic who worked for a Renault garage in Long Eaton who purchased it in 1994
after agreeing a price from the persons who did the house clearance I set about restoring it.

There was no rust whatsoever on the underside or body, just a dent on each of the front wings. After repairing and painting this is the final result.
I had to change the engine as it was seized solid also the heater matrix and radiator were replaced.

I went through the mechanics of the vehicle and sent it for an mot and it passed with only a couple of advisories. The back is all boarded and carpeted and it has Renault 25 seats..and with the old style lettering which we used to use when we first started in 1982 this is a real eye catcher .
This van is lovely to drive and i am loking forward to driving it around..

The last picture shows the van how it was when i bought it

Rob

Great work :) Looks amazing! Those seats look comfy too!

Nice Van and good work! :D
But I still have a few things to improve the classic look... ;)

- Get rid of these plastic hub caps and look for the original 4.5 Inch wheels!
- Get yourself the missing rear bumper end parts (melun retro passion, 20 Euros / each)
- Change these rear view mirrors asap!

And what's that funky exhaust side pipe thing ?

Cheers,

David

but im sure Rob will come on here and defend his van very soon

r4f6van.

thanks for the nice comments about my van. ref mirrors and wheels, the n/s mirror came with the van, and i know it was the wrong type, but i had to refit for the mot, and waiting for new mirror to arrive. the wheel trims came with the van but kept them on, untill my 12ts wheels come back from powder coating. the exhaust cover is a heat shield, not the exhaust. i am pleased how this van has turned out and is a super drive, it is a real eye catcher and good advertising. whilst working for our local renault garage//burrows garage// since i was8 yrs of age, serving petrol, cleaning cars ect till i left school, and then i went intothe body shop. in the early 70s we moved to a new and modern body shop, burrows coachworks sowton./exeter/ i repaired all the 4s and 12s that came in for body work and changed many body shells and chassis on the 4s, over the years. my brother and i started our own b/shop in exmouth in 1982. and we carried on repairing renaults for burrows, that is one of the reasons why i got the 4 van now to put it in the colours we used then with the right type of lettering for that time.infact we have repaired/ restored a couple of r4s over the last 12 months for customers and have had been asked by other renault owners to repair there classic renaults. i will post more pitcures of my van when the wheels have been fitted.enjoy driving your 4s, and perhaps one day we will all meet up. robert.

And what's that funky exhaust side pipe thing ?

one question, is it LOUD!?

but since reading its a heat shield, i see nothing wrong.

Starting to really want a R4 van now to keep up with the Jones now 3: and def because the saab has decided it doesn't want to allow power from then the engine into the gearbox ¬ ¬

Well done on completing a nice van and hope it serves your business well
