Temp. Dash Light on

I've been giving the engine bay on my 91 Savanna a good clean, prior to going back on the road. First run today and dash temp. Light is on (fan Not kicked in). anything obvious that I could have dislodged or slackened. I would be grateful for any suggestions.

The temperature warning light would come on when it connects to ground. Either when the temperature sensor gets too hot or when the wire touches the exhaust manifold and shorts out.

Does it go off after you start the car from cold? If so probably the sensor is working and maybe the electric fan is seized or needs connectors need cleaning up (fan connectors are the normal problem). Or the thermostat is stuck. Or the coolant has air and needs bleeding. Take care - overheating is bad for head gaskets.

If the light stays on after starting the car from cold then check it isn't sitting on the exhaust manifold.
