Hi All
I’m trying to find a towing eye on my 1989 R4 but can’t find any anchor points either on the rest or front. We’re these manufactured by default or are they aftermarket?
I’ve broken down before and fortunately was close to gone so wanted a substantial anchor point in case I’m a bit further away from home in case of breakdown.

Thanks

Hi
There's some discussion (and photos) of this here:

emergency Front towing-hook/point... | Page 2 | Renault 4 Forum

I might have some of these somewhere, but they'll be difficult to find!
You can get desert-ready front ones here (if they're still posting to the UK...):

I have some more of them available if you are interested.

The ones Angelos manufactured does what it says, easy mounted and looks the part too..
and he doesn't muck about either so go ahead order one and you can mount it in a few days. -R.

Anyone knows the measures of the original?

I managed to find one in the garage - the photo is of the rear eye (the flat version).
3.5 - 4.00mm steel
Distance between holes 1 and 2 (to centre points): 115mm. Holes 8mm diameter.
Small aperture at top 17mm x 9mm
Towing eye aperture starts 12mm in from bottom edge. Aperture 18mm x 33mm

The front ones are bent outwards - the bend starts at about 27mm from the top (see photo in my earlier post).
All dimensions approximate - I'd try a cardboard version first!

Hi Andy.
-NOT to p. on your parade in Any way -but I think that on the front-one the towing eye should be slanted (down and forward)
With the lower "leg" of eye being longer and more forward than the upper....
-This way you'll save bending the bumper when the towing-rope gets tight under tow. Down&Forward-pointing towing eye will
force rope downward to clear bumper -this "FAULT" costed me a Pristine NOS-chromed one B4 I noticed what happened :-(
