Just musing, a query, and I expect the answer is a big no, but does anyone know if new Zenith 28 IF carbs are available for a 688 D7 12 engine anywhere? (engine is a 1100cc one on an '89 GTL).

Suspect mine is a wee bit worn with age - the clock says 140,000+Km - and a new one would be nice but I suspect unavailable. But maybe other cars use them.....? Or, can they be 'renovated' in any way?

Hello

I HAVE THE SAME ENGINE IN MY GTL AND I HVE CONTACTED A COMPANY CALLED GOWER AND LEE ON 01923 247300 WHO REFURBISH YOUR OWN CARBURETER.

THE COST I HAVE BEEN QUOTED IS £99 PLUS VAT AND P&P, TURN A ROUND TIME 4 WEEKS.

I AM WAITING TILL THE NEW YEAR TO HAVE MINE DONE.

French ebay is worth a look too

ggcton,
151.00euro +15.50 p&p, total about £142 at todays exchange rate - not bad for an new old carb really, don't you think? Not far off the refurbish cost either. Trouble is, it's about 100 quid too much for me this month! But definitely food for thought - both options - for the future.
