Heater blower

My heater blower has not worked, in ghe 6 years I have had car . Not bothered me really, as only use during warm weather. Now got more time to fiddle around, I just wondering if there are common faults to check and any short cut tips for removing and fault finding. I have a 1986 4gtl....thanks

If the blower's never worked, this might be the problem:


This won't be the problem on your car, but if the heater blower suddenly stops working, it's worth checking that the brake lights work - they're on the same fuse on Cleon-engined cars/vans.
