Hi, long shot I know but I’m after parts to do the R5 carb upgrade on my recently acquired R4gtl, manifold, carb etc etc. Understand the bits are not plentiful these days but worth an ask,
Thanks in advance

Apologies, just realised I’ve posted this in the wrong section

Hi Brap

Could you provide us with more info about your carb. Make: Solex or Zenith and type (on metal tag screwed to top of carb or markings embossed on side of carb) and which components you are thinking of changing. There are different variations of carb kit

Photos of your carb would be useful.

Hia thanks for reply, sorry my post wasn’t very clear.
The R4 I have just bought has a standard inlet manifold and the previous owner has fitted a replacement carb of unknown origin. What I’m after is an inlet manifold, carb, rocker cover and air filter from a Renault 5tl as a little performance upgrade, I believe it’s a Solex 32 carb with a heated manifold. I do understand that these bits are getting harder to source but worth an ask, and just want to start collecting the parts for the upgrade
Cheers Phil

Hi Phil

If the carb has not got Zenith 281F embossed on the body of the carb, it is a copy. It does look like a copy to me from the photo

Hi Andy, cheers for that
I'm assuming Leboncoin is something similar to e-bay, not doing so well creating an account !!

have you used palace-de-lancienne before for parts? I was trying to look at postage cost to uk its not coming up with options but I can email them and see

Cheers Phill

Hi Phill
I'm afraid Leboncoin has become harder to use from the UK since Brexit - if you have friends in France, it'd be easier to do it through them.
Benoît Huart, the guy who runs Palace de l'Ancienne, seems very friendly - I've never actually bought anything from him (because my bank makes it prohibitively expensive to make payments in Euros, and he doesn't [or didn't] accept credit cards or Paypal), but I did make enquiries about a couple of parts; he replied quickly with postage costs to the UK.
Best of luck!

Hi Andy
that's amazing do put them aside for me, out of interest I have sent an email re the postage on the manifold but also looking at his address it wouldn’t be much of a detour when I’m over there in a few weeks time.

Will do - hope you find the other bits you need!

Hi all, would anyone have a picture of the Renault 5tl air filter assembly fitted to a R4?
Fingers crossed I’ve a carb on route and there maybe slim possibility of a manifold. But I think I’m going to struggle to find the air box, I’m not keen on k&n type affairs but wonder if there’s something else I could modify that is close to the R5 unit, I ‘think’ a Landrover tdi airbox is a similar style but may be a bit big, so I could do with an image of the real thing to work from!
Cheers Phill

Well, it's quite a collection of bits and (missing) parts on your R4 GTL. The Renault R5 Dunlop rims are really nice, an unknown carburetor, etc.
@Andy McGhee wrote the right bits for upgrade the carb to Zenith 32IF and you need also the 32mm manifold.
The airfilter box can be bought at Der Fransoze https://www.franzose.de/en/Renault/R5-R6/air-filter/ there are two types depending on the diameter for the connection on the carb and you also need the retaining strap.
At R-Quatre in The Netherlands this https://www.renault4onderdelen.nl/W...incl.-filter-(vervangt-cassette-systeem).html is available but also ask for the diameter for the connection on the carb.

Hi, thanks for this, I had gone down a bit of a rabbit hole with air filters, and was looking at the wrong style of remote cylindrical type, as in the attached pic, It makes a lot more sense now
Yes I’m happy with the Dunlop wheel rims, it all needs a good sort out and clean but not far off now. I’m looking forward to getting it on the road.

That's a different air box for R5's as seen in these pictures;
