Disc brake conversion on R4 F4

Rear wheel bearings are standard tapered roller bearings. A good bearing / hardware shop normally stocks them, or can order them for you. No need to wait for parts to arrive from abroad.

    Radiator removal.

You hold the spanner at the back side of the steering rack (towards the bulkhead), holding its end over the nut with your other hand from the front side of the rack. Both nuts are undone the same way, left hand side one is trickier and you may need to flip the spanner in order to get to another...

HELP! Drive shaft mystery noise after changing gaiters

Driveshafts for 354 gearbox have a spring loaded inner joint, in order to hold it in the differential planet gear - there is no roll pin or circlip as found on other cars. It's a rather strong spring so it's weird you didn't notice it and may well be the source of your trouble, if it broke on...

    Radiator removal.

Only if it is not too long. A swivelling ring end will also help much.

    Which fuel pump?

To me, your problem seems more related to fuel level being too low, than incorrect fuel pump operation. Little can go wrong with a mechanical fuel pump, and it will fail completely rather than operate incorrectly. Also, fuel pressure and delivery rate on a carburetted car is not as critical as...

    Drive shaft boots

The "bean can" joint is a double cardan joint usually found on early / original driveshafts. A gaiter is not necessary but some poor road vehicles had one fitted as an extra protection against dirt.

    Door straps

There should be no hidden nuts, there are welded studs on the A pillar and female threads on the door itself.

334 and 354 clutch release bearings

I have come across many GTLs with 160mm clutches. They may had been replaced in the past, though, I think the flywheel will accept both 160 and 180 mm clutches.

It is entrely possible from above with a 13mm combination spanner.

HELP! Drive shaft mystery noise after changing gaiters

Did you take apart the inner joint in order to fit the boots? Are the tripod bearings in good order? Also, did you put the spring back on correctly?

334 and 354 clutch release bearings

There was no 180mm clutch for the Billancourt engine, and most 1108cc engines were fitted with a 160mm clutch, too. All ball bearing release bearings (1969 till end of production) are interchangeable, no matter what the gearbox type and clutch size. Reason Renault gave two part numbers (besides...

    Door straps

Short straps with diagonally placed screw holes are used on the rear doors. Front door straps are attached to the body side with M4 nuts on studs on the A-pillar (be very careful not to snap them off), and on door with M4 screws. If the threads on the door are stripped it's OK to use sheet metal...

    Thermostat

All thermostats are interchangeable. UK spec cars were fitted with an 83 deg. C thermostat.

    Tailgate seal

This isn't the correct profile shape for the tailgate seal, so there is no definitive answer to your question. At least try to install it in such a way that it matches as closely as possible the profile of the ends of the lower seal part.

It would be interesting if we could see a photo of the installed carburettor.

Renault 5 - Poor gear change, how to adjust fix?

Check also the linkage at the gearbox end of the lever. There used to be a service kit available with all the plastic bushes, washers etc. The connection between the gearshift lever (the part in your picture) and the lever rod that goes to the gearbox is held by a collar and is adjustable both...

Nice job, Joop! Twingos are always a PITA to work on, due to the very small bonnet.

    1963 4L torsion bars

They may had decided it was a useless expense, judging by the fact that R4s were intended to be used less and less on rural roads or off road.
