4 speed gearbox 850

please help,

How do you split the gearbox, in front of the gearbox is a slot were you can crank the motor throug the bumper.
There is a seal that needs to be replaced but I do not know how to remove the front cover of the gearbox, the shaft must be removed first.

I've no idea at all. But wouldn't it be a whole lot easier if you bought a manual that covers your year of car? Would save others having to look up their manuals and trying to describe the process.

All of the Haynes manuals (pink ones with the cutout drawing on the cover) will cover the 1123. Try a few on here:

Hi Melcom,

I do have the older manual, 3 speed gearbox with the motor with timming gears.
If I can get one localy I will buy it, but I can't get them here.
On ebay there are plenty, but thy don't ship to South-Africa.

I'm sure they will ship to SA if you ask them. Not enough people in the UK to buy all those manuals so they should be desperate for sales.

The early 4 speed box was a 3 speeder with a bit on the front, but I've not got one. Likely similar to the 3 speeder.

Gerrie, there's loads of them on ebay - just ask the seller if they will ship to SA - most will oblige. All you need is a paypal account. When I sold lots of stuff on ebay I was selling as far away as Australia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Yes the box look like the three speed box, but it doesn't split the same way as the 3 speed.
