At the finish of 1979 Acropolis Rally, ELPA's Fourgonettes are being used as escort cars (!) to the Escort 1800RS of the winners, Waldegaard-Thorzelius.

ELPA was the national road assistance company back then, and responsible for any motorsports event held in Greece.
Oooooh yeah, very nice old memories come to life, me and my late dad restoring a Ford Escort mk1 RS 1600 back in the mid 70's, in Daytona Yellow with the small pen striping on the sides.
It was our family car and he sold him sadly way to early...those cars are nowadays a small goldmine on wheels.

Sorry Jim, I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, because I reckon this abortion should be in A Gallery Of Gruesome
you could well be right there - I suppose I love the old 608 mercs and R4s but i'm sure there is a better way to enjoy both - like an Italian Job style garage in the back or the Merc for the R4

Please forgive my enthusiasm for the Merc 608/R4 double decker, of course it should be 'Gruesome', but I enjoy the irony and particularly the unexpected to happen. Rather than going to the crusher for the poor old R4 and R5 Express, it's good to see repurposing with the next incarnation. Remember the '60s Drop City (hippy community in USA)? The structure was built from the chopped roofs taken from VW split-screen Type 2 vans. It's called sustainability. If only they knew how valuable they were to be......
