air filter cover respray

I've just stripped the old black paint and rust off my air filter cover and quite fancy the metallic look.

I can either respray it black or silver but I also have a clear "varnish" and am wondering what will happen if I just use that to keep the metallic look. Do you think that its an adequate coating?

Depends on heat resistance, etc.
You can get POR 15 rust preventative paint in clear now. It is quite expensive, however, at £33.15 per tin.

Use std paint. No excessive heat there!

That's a bit rich for me although it would have been perfect.

I've only got a gloss black, but I really like the finish on Orsome's cover-silky matt black. Did you use a primer on that?
