Alternator connection

Hi all,

Hope everyone has survived January.

I appear to have a bit of a loose alternator connection. The main + - piece doesn't feel very secure when attached and I believe it is disconnecting whilst I'm driving - not always, but it's happened a couple of times in the past few months. I'm presuming it's from vibration of the engine (i'm hoping it's not because I've got the headlights on, although I have noticed on the occasions it has done this it's been when the headlights are on - coincidence?)

Does anyone have any advice on how I can secure a proper fix for it so that I know I'm not draining my (brand-new) battery?

Thanks,

Hi Rory
That's an unusual one. It's not a problem I've come across before, but you could try disconnecting the battery and then squeezing the sides of the female connectors (very gently) with a pair of tweezers. See what other people think!

Good idea to try to pinch up the connectors a bit. I would have thought that the plastic parts should snap together -- has some part of the plug snapped off?
