With My A frame, there are straps that wrap round the lower triangle of the suspension, taking care not to rub on the gaiter or get involved with the free turning of the steering, which I ratchet up tight.
Obviously there is one each side, and the top of the A has the socket. I have found no difficulty towing my R4's using this. I have towed on the motorway , on roads, all over with no ill effects. Dont go too fast, I stay below 60. An R4 weighs little, so my Passat has no difficult pulling it. I just avoid stressing anything. Very strange to see a car very close behind you with the steering wheel moving and no one there.
