I've just fitted a Boyer electronic induction discharge kit to my 86 R4 GTL. Very simple to fit and quite an effective unit.
However, I fitted mine on the basis that I did not have a ballast resistor fitted to the coil. There were certainly no extra wires connected to the coil.
But dear Mr Haynes shows these models to have a ballast resistor, running from something called a cold start relay to the coil.
Lil ol me is starting to get paranoid. Can anyone help me on this - is there a resistor, what job does it do, where might I find it?
Thanks all!
