Necessity is the mother of invention. It is often said. No more so than Wednesday evening with an MOT retest booked for the following day (split driveshaft boots)
And no specialist tool to fit the new boots .
So here is my solution :
Step 1 Drink the BEER!
Step 2 attach baked bean tin to beer bottle with tape to form a recess corresponding with the projection of the splined shaft.
Step 3 Place boot onto bottle turning it inside out as you go.
Step 4 add Fairy Liquid between the bottle and the boot.
Step 5 pull the boot over the neck of the bottle to stretch it.
Step 6 pull the boot off the bottle and can over cv knuckle and onto shaft
Step 7 turn it out the right way and trim off excess
Step 8 fit retaining clips
Step 9 Drink several more bottles of BEER!
