Hi All. My 72 car came with two rearview mirrors. One is screwed in above the windscreen, and the other is screwed into the top of the dash, just below the windscreen. Both look like they are original items and have been in place since God was a lad. I took the dash one off to clean it, and cannot find the screws that held it in place. Cross head yes. But try as i might i have been unable to find any screws that feel right, either too loose or needing too much force to get them in. Any ideas ? Is there a special screw? I dont want to leave two holes in the dash, and I liked having the two rearview mirrors, driving a LHD car in our intense and confrontational traffic. Thank you.

As far as I know, the 1972 R4 has standard a dash rear view mirror not the windscreen. The windscreen mirror became standard in 1983

Thank you for that. So thé roof mounted mirror is extra. Do you know what screws held the dash board mirror in place?
From the visual it looks like a screw headed bolt ?
