Hello Guys ---I understand this section is for R4 but I thought it might be worth a shot ---I am searching for a distributor for a 1980 R5 Gordini / Alpine non turbo engine which is going into my R4 ---- I have been given the part number for the Distributor that suits the 1980 R5 Gordini engine by a kind chap called Tony on the classic Renault forum ---- Ducellier 5254028/B which apparently should have marked on the side R/230 and C/34 ---- if anybody has one spare that they would be prepared to sell or knows of other forum members who might have one I would be very greatfull ---- all conditions would be considered as any starting point is better than none

Hi Malcolm ---- I have read your posting on this subject as I follow your Gordini installation for information. The problem I had was that you seemed to be saying that 123 made a unit to fit the Gordini with a standard setting that you felt would not work, but that they made a programmable unit that could be adjusted but it did not fit unless you purchased the extension shaft from the French company you listed. This seemed a little odd that a company such as they would produce a unit to physically fit which had running doubts but had a unit that could run correct but it would not fit, seems odd ? ----- I looked on the 123 web site and although many makes of car are listed and accessible Renault appears not to be. This is why I was left a little lost and asked the question on the classic Renault forum --- I will now look further into 123 so thanks for the contact but I may be back onto you again if I draw a blank
cheers
Steve

Hi again Malcolm ---- been back onto the 123 site using this ----- http://www.123ignition.nl/id/44.html ---- and it does list Renault but say's that the curve is correct for the R5 gordini/alpine engine but it is asterix and at the bottom of the page it says the unit will not physically fit, again seems odd to do that. so I suppose the questions are
A) Did you purchase a unit from 123 and an extension from the French company
B) Did it work once programmed
C) How much was it in total
Steve

The French company sell the whole distributor. They don't like selling the extension seperately. The price on their website is roughly what I paid. At the time 123 had a distributor that would fit the Alpine but with fixed curves but I don't see it now. I think the fixed curve would have worked for me as it was carb problems causing my trouble but I like to fiddle and the programmable one is fun.

Thanks guys. ---- I understand now Malcolm where your comments were heading --- I am happy now that I have this option, should it be needed.
thanks again to you both.
Steve
