Hi All.
After some years away from R4s I have once again got my head down into a 1987 4F4.
All Distributor , HT Leads and Plugs are new including the Points
Compression is good.
However Cylinder One has not been firing.
I set up the Timing this afternoon thanks to Andres kind Bulb method etc.
Still no Cylinder 1 Firing.
No 1 plug was fouled so there was evidence of no combustion.
Whilst the engine was running I pulled HT Lead number one off the Dizzy Cap and hey presto the engine perked up all cylinders firing if I touched the top off the cap terminal.
I never came across this with previous 4s, seems like the Distributor Cap is suspect all be it new.
Has anyone else come across this?
I’ll order a new cap.
Thanks
Ian.

I had a similar problem many years ago, and it was due to a very fine hairline crack in the dizzy cap. And a new cap fixed it.
